We are delighted to invite you to become a sponsor for the upcoming California Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) & Wellness Summit on May 15th and 16th, 2025. The second annual Summit will be hosted by Sacramento County Office of Education and generously supported in part by the Department of Health Care Services CalHOPE Mindfulness & Wellbeing funding. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural 2024 gathering, the 2025 Summit will provide expanded opportunities for over 700 of California’s SEL “catalysts”—the leaders and practitioners responsible for advancing equity-focused social and emotional learning across the state through the CalHOPE project—to meaningfully gather, while learning with and from each other.
As the groundbreaking CalHOPE funding comes to an end this school year, Sacramento County Officer of Education’s goal is to sustain the powerful momentum that the multi-year, statewide project has set in motion. We invite the California funding and capacity-building community to become Summit sponsors, co-creating the path forward for systemic, transformative SEL by investing in the growth of this powerful annual learning event. Sponsorships help subsidize the cost of hosting the Summit, elevating the quality of speakers and experiences while keeping the registration fee accessible for California educators.
Summit Theme and Goals
The 2025 SEL & Wellness Summit’s theme is Relationship-Centered Schools. This theme will explore relationships as the foundation for equity, transformation, and integration, expressed in the following ways:
Equity
Attendees will explore and share innovative strategies to address systemic barriers and create equitable, inclusive learning environments where every student has access to the resources necessary to support their social, emotional, and academic growth.
Transformation
Attendees will deepen their knowledge of California’s Transformative SEL Competencies and Conditions for Thriving guidance, be inspired by transformational stories from young people and peers, and gain tools to foster continuous improvement, adaptability, and sustainability in their own contexts.
Integration
Attendees will learn effective strategies to break down silos and sustain SEL implementation in schools through coherence across multiple initiatives and integration with academic instruction, for example, leveraging the recently updated California Standards for theTeaching Profession.

2025 Summit Agenda and Speakers
Pre-summit sessions kick off on Thursday, May 15th and the Summit formally opens with a lunchtime plenary followed by breakout sessions, a sponsored reception and then dinner. Friday, May 15th will include breakfast and lunchtime plenaries and a full day of breakout sessions. Nationally recognized educational equity, SEL, and well-being experts will keynote at the Summit, with youth leaders, and California SEL leaders serving on panels during plenary sessions. Representatives from across the state will lead breakout workshops, sharing their accumulated SEL and wellness experiences, insights, and know-how focused on the Summit themes of equity, transformation, and integration. The Audience and Opportunity
Dr. Vivek Murthy, US Surgeon General, echoes countless others from across our nation and state when calling for the creation of “positive, safe, affirming school environments” where students can experience “social and emotional programs and other evidence-based approaches that promote healthy development.” Throughout the pandemic and within the context of our nation’s fractured social and political landscape, education leaders and practitioners in California have built a community dedicated to addressing the multi-faceted challenges to wellness, connection, equity, and justice seen in our school systems. Summit attendees will include decision-makers at multiple levels of the education system including county office leaders, district and school administrators, classroom teachers and other SEL-focused practitioners.
